About The Role

Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an IT Operations Analyst to provide frontline technical support and day-to-day operational administration across the firm’s end-user computing and Microsoft environment. This role is responsible for helpdesk support, onboarding and offboarding tasks, device and application administration, licensing and distribution list administration, and operational governance validation activities that keep the environment organized, supportable, and secure.
The role plays a critical part in keeping staff productive, improving support consistency, maintaining data lifecycle discipline, and reducing operational friction through reliable execution of standard IT processes.

This role may offer a hybrid work setup, blending time in the office with remote work as business needs evolve. We enjoy coming together in person to collaborate, connect with teammates, and partner with clients. We may prioritize candidates who live within 50 miles of a Rincon office. Eligible office locations for this role include Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.    

What You’ll Do

Helpdesk and End-User Support

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for hardware, software, access, collaboration, and productivity issues across office and remote users.
  • Respond to service tickets, troubleshoot common technical problems, document actions taken, and escalate issues appropriately when they exceed defined support boundaries.
  • Support device setup, workstation refreshes, break-fix activities, printer/peripheral support, and conference room or office technology issues as needed.
  • Deliver a professional, responsive user support experience that keeps staff productive and builds confidence in the IT function.

Account Administration and Operational Requests

  • Execute onboarding and offboarding tasks including account setup, access changes, group membership updates, equipment assignment, and deprovisioning coordination.
  • Administer routine Microsoft 365 operational requests such as licensing assignments, shared mailbox and distribution list changes, group membership administration, and basic permissions updates.
  • Support request workflows for access, changes, application provisioning, and standard approvals in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Maintain accurate user, license, and basic application administration records to support clean operational handoffs and reporting.

Lifecycle, Governance, and Validation Support

  • Perform operational governance validation activities such as reviewing distribution lists, shared mailboxes, group memberships, stale accounts, asset assignments, and basic lifecycle checkpoints.
  • Support application and access lifecycle administration for non-product tools, including intake coordination, renewals, ownership checks, and decommissioning support.
  • Validate that standard naming, ownership, licensing, and distribution practices are being followed and flag exceptions for review.
  • Assist with cleanup, documentation, and routine hygiene tasks that reduce sprawl and improve supportability across the environment.

Operational Documentation and Process Support

  • Document support procedures, recurring issues, troubleshooting steps, and standard service workflows to improve consistency and self-service.

  • ​​​​​​​Contribute to internal knowledge base content, onboarding checklists, asset tracking records, and support runbooks.

  •  Identify repeat support issues and recommend practical improvements to reduce ticket volume and improve user experience.

  •  Support IT communications, staff guidance, and basic process reinforcement for common tools and support requests.

Coordination with Platform, Security, and Vendors

  • Work closely with the Microsoft Platform and Security Engineer, IT Operations leadership, MSP partners, and security personnel to ensure issues are routed and resolved appropriately.
  • Handle routine operational administration internally while escalating platform engineering, security, or advanced system issues through defined support paths.
  • Support vendor and MSP coordination for overflow tasks, troubleshooting, and issue follow-through as needed.

What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years of experience in IT support, service desk, desktop support, or IT operations in a professional office environment.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications and common Microsoft administration tasks including accounts, licensing, groups, shared mailboxes, and distribution lists.
  • Experience with onboarding and offboarding processes, device provisioning, ticketing systems, and end-user troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in executing repeatable administrative and lifecycle tasks.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures, maintain accurate records, and escalate appropriately when issues fall outside of scope.
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities in a fast-moving operational environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, or basic Microsoft 365 admin center functions.• Experience with asset inventory management, application portfolio support, or software/license administration.
  •  Experience supporting distribution list governance, shared mailbox administration, or collaboration support in Microsoft 365.
  • Experience working with MSPs or outsourced support models.
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, or a multi-office operating environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft fundamentals certifications.

Investing in You 
 

The base salary range for this full-time position is 80,000.00 to 90,000.00, plus a generous benefits program. Salary ranges are based on the market median of similar jobs, according to third-party salary benchmark surveys. Base pay is determined based on internal equity and a candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
