About The Role
We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst with three to five years of experience supporting Finance and Accounting organizations. This role is focused on financial reporting, analysis, and data-driven decision support, with strong emphasis on SQL-based data extraction, structured financial datasets, and repeatable reporting and data visualization.

The ideal candidate has a solid grounding in accounting principles and financial reporting, combined with strong technical skills to query, validate, and analyze financial and project data from enterprise systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365. This role partners closely with Finance leadership to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights that support month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, and project performance management within the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) and environmental consulting environment.

This role may offer a hybrid work setup, blending time in the office with remote work as business needs evolve. We enjoy coming together in person to collaborate, connect with teammates, and partner with clients, and may prioritize candidates who live within 50 miles of a Rincon office. Eligible office locations for this role include Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura. What You’ll Do
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance standardized financial and operational metrics reports supporting month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, and management reporting.
  • Support project-based financial reporting, including revenue recognition, project profitability, labor utilization, and cost tracking.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc reports for Finance leadership, Project Managers, and Executive stakeholders.
Data Extraction, Modeling & SQL
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate financial and operational data from SQL Server data sources.
  • Partner with Finance and IT to ensure alignment between source system data, reporting logic, and accounting rules.
Business Intelligence & Reporting Tools
  • Automate recurring reports and data refresh processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and data governance.
  • Ensure reporting solutions align with Finance-controlled definitions, metrics, and hierarchies.
  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that present financial data clearly and accurately for Finance and business stakeholders.
Data Quality & Controls
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity across all financial reporting outputs.
  • Document reporting logic, calculations, and assumptions to support transparency, auditability, and knowledge transfer.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving data issues related to chart of accounts, financial dimensions, project structures, and source system configuration.
Advanced Analytics & Automation
  • Leverage Microsoft Copilot, Power BI AI features, or other analytics tools to streamline reporting workflows and enhance financial analysis.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, predictive insights, and improved self-service reporting within Finance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Project Management teams to translate financial requirements into scalable reporting solutions.
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support continuous improvement of financial reporting processes and tools.

What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, or business intelligence within a Finance or Accounting function.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, project accounting, and financial close processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and maintain SQL queries for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations preferred)
    • SQL-based querying and data preparation
    • Power BI
    • Excel (advanced formulas, modeling, Power Query)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the AEC or environmental consulting industry.
  • Familiarity with project-based accounting concepts such as WBS structures, labor utilization, and revenue recognition.
  • Experience using Copilot, Power BI AI features, or other GenAI tools to support analytics and reporting efficiency is a plus.

Investing in You
The base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000-$95,000 plus a generous benefits program. Salary ranges are based on the market median of similar jobs, according to third-party salary benchmark surveys. Base pay is determined based on internal equity and a candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
