Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a part-time Payroll Assistant to join our People and Culture team! This role will be responsible for supporting our payroll department in various administrative tasks related to time & labor tracking and audit, which include, payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and regulations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in payroll administration and gain valuable experience in a dynamic work environment. This position will be 25 hours per week (5 hours per day, Monday – Friday). This role offers the flexibility to work from any of our 13 offices and the opportunity for a hybrid/remote work setup within California. Preferred Regions/Offices: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation, processing, and distribution of payroll for employees
Input data accurately into the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, timekeeping records, and adjustments
Verify accuracy of timesheets, commissions, bonuses, and other payroll-related data
Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and managers in a timely and professional manner
Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee information, tax withholdings, and deductions
Respond to employment verification requests (written and verbal)
Reviewing and manage timesheet change requests
Ensuring reoccurring earnings and deductions are correct and maintained
Manage employee time off request system
Generate standard payroll reports and assist in the analysis of payroll data as needed
Identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll records and reports
Reconcile Time & Labor reporting with client billing
This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Minimum of two (2) years professional experience
Prior experience in payroll administration or accounting is a plus but not required
Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
Basic understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and accounting principles
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Exercises good judgment and maintains strict confidentiality
A team player with the ability and willingness to pitch in as needed in other areas

The base salary range for this part-time position is $25.00-$29.80 per hour. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
