Cultural Resources Project Manager
Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Cultural Resources Project Manager to join our team of professionals working on a variety of projects including Utilities, Water, Renewable Energy, Transportation, and Infrastructure. Under the direction of a Cultural Resources Principal, you will be responsible for managing projects and overseeing all phases of cultural resources work. Project management duties include successfully executing tasks and contracts in the cultural resources service line, oversight and preparation of work products, directing and participating in fieldwork, people management, and client engagement and retention.
While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Carlsbad, Fresno, Los Angeles, Monterey, Oakland, Palm Springs, Riverside, Sacramento, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, San Jose, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.
This is a minimum 40 hour per week position and some 40+ weeks may be necessary based on project needs.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate successful project completion of multiple projects with varied regulatory requirements including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
Manage projects, client expectations, schedules, and budgets
Maintain QAQC of various cultural resource work products that support CEQA and NEPA compliance for various agencies
Oversee and complete work products and fieldwork
Coordinate and lead project meetings
Coordinate with clients, agencies, stakeholder communities, including local Native American groups, Rincon peers, subcontractors, and vendors
Work in multidisciplinary teams for successful project execution including planners, biologists, and paleontologists
Develop project proposals, including costs and schedules
Participate in business planning and development
Participate in Rincon’s mentorship program including providing mentorship of junior staff and engaging in peer-to-peer mentorship and engagement with senior mentors
Other duties as required by cultural resources Program Managers and others
This Job Might Be for You If You Have the Following:
Meet or exceed the qualifications detailed in 36 CFR part 61 for Archeology
Minimum of 6+ years of progressive and successful environmental consulting experience in the above-mentioned technical and project management areas
Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certification
Expertise in historical and prehistoric archaeology
A thorough understanding of CEQA and NEPA as they relate to cultural resources and related fields, and Section 106 of the NHPA
Strong technical writing and problem-solving skills
Strong work ethic, demonstrated leadership ability, effective communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and staff
Prior experience working in California and the Great Basin
Desired:
Experience working directly with utility providers
Experience working under the direction of an environmental planner
Experience/working relationships with local Native American groups
Experience with historical built environment resources
Experience working with solar developers and transportation projects

The base salary range for this full-time position is $90,000– $120,000, plus a generous benefits program. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
