Rincon Consultants, Inc. is actively seeking a GIS Analyst to contribute to our team by utilizing GIS expertise to generate mapping products, manage data, conduct spatial analysis, develop custom web GIS applications, and work collaboratively within a dynamic team. As a GIS Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our staff by proficiently utilizing geographic information systems (GIS) databases and tools. Responsibilities will include populating and cleaning GIS datasets, generating custom and standard maps, conducting comprehensive spatial analyses, and undertaking various other GIS-related tasks to meet both customer and company requirements. Professional experience utilizing ArcGIS Online and associated tools including Survey123, Field Maps, Experience builder, and web applications. Experience using ArcGIS Online to support field data collection is essential to this position. GIS work is performed in ArcGIS 10.8, ArcGIS Pro, and QGIS. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your GIS skills while working alongside a collaborative team. The ideal candidate is located within California and is open to remote or hybrid work arrangement. 

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Generate a variety of GIS products, including standard and custom maps, map series, graphics, tables, and reports
  • Organize and extract data, ensuring its accuracy and completeness through quality control operations
  • Resolve discrepancies and missing data by researching source documents or coordinating with relevant parties
  • Perform spatial analyses, such as buffering, spatial overlays, and distance/area calculations, using established methods and procedures
  • Maintain, update, and design geospatial databases. Convert and clean data from non-GIS systems into GIS formats, utilizing scripts, queries, and other tools to address missing or incorrect spatial and attribute data
  • Assist in designing, developing, testing, and implementing GIS applications to meet customer and enterprise requirements
  • Maintain well-structured file systems for both spatial and non-spatial data, ensuring cleanliness and organization
  • Assists in the design, development, testing and implementation of GIS applications
  • Creates custom Fields Tools using Esri based field tool suite
  • Utilizes ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS to create web maps and geo apps
  • Problem solves technical issues within the Esri ecosystem
  • Trains staff on digital collection tools and trouble shoot issues with tablets and GPS equipment
  • Finds, obtains, downloads, and organizes data. Performs quality control operations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all data
  • Displays and modifies GIS and CAD data using Autodesk or similar drafting programs
  • Stays abreast of new trends and technology in GIS applications

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Archaeology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field with an emphasis in GIS (or a GIS certificate from an accredited school)
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience of environmental consulting experience in the A/E/C industry
  • One year of professional experience using software tools and applications including but not limited to:
    • ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)
    • ArcGIS Online
    • ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server)
    • Creating Survey123 forms (with Survey123 Connect) and designing Survey Report templates
    • Creating ArcGIS FieldMaps databases and maps for field use
    • Creating web maps and geo apps in ArcGIS Online and Portal
    • Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledge of commonly used publicly available GIS sources
  • Ability to work effectively within a group, as well as independently; must be able to work well with local and remote team members
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
Desired:
  • IT/Networking/Hardware/General Desktop Support and Troubleshooting experience
  • Drafting using AutoCAD or other drafting software
  • Experience with Adobe products (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • 3D mapping and modeling
  • Previous experience with relational database development
  • R, Python, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Visual Basic, C#, or other programming experience

The base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000-$75,000, plus benefits and bonus. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
